about us

the random acts of art project is a multimedia community art project based in new york city and philadelphia but with a few collaborators all over the world. the project was started in 2008 and is back in full swing in 2011 after a brief hiatus. our goal is simple: to bring art to as many people as possible and beautify the world one small corner at a time. we accomplish this in two ways. first, by hiding small pieces of art in plain sight, encouraging finders to pass along the pieces and re-hide them for new friends to find. second, along with our hidden art initiative, we hope to use this blog as a platform to display our various sketching and photography projects, spreading the art in a more digital sort of way.

random acts is the harebrained creation of a professional student/amateur artist/aspiring writer who has a real name, but sometimes goes by the name of sparrow. she enjoys drawing portraits, making collages, science experiments, photographing strangers, and finding the latent beauty in everyday things. she is joined by a few very talented collaborating artists who help her spread the art even further.
